I’m never going to be the ‘right’ doula for everyone, but, if you keep reading, I might just be the right one for you...
My interest in birth started at a young age, around 5 years old. My friends and I used to play a game we called “Birther”, where we would take turns delivering babies under our hospital gowns. Coaching the birther the whole way through. Of course, at that time in my life I wasn’t aware that a birth coach/doula was even a job!
From that time on, I became enthralled with all things babies and birth… reading about and watching videos from birth stories to birthing techniques, etc. Birth is such a fascinating and vast topic, one that you can continue learning for years to come...
Becoming a birth worker has always been in the back of my mind. Something that I have wanted to pursue… but, without knowing where to start... that is where it stayed until years later, when I was working as a care giver for the elderly. A job which I absolutely loved! But, when it came time for my clients to move on to nursing homes… or, sadly, pass away… I decided it was time to see the other side of life… and support families welcoming in new life and precious additions to their families...
Since deciding to pursue birth work… I have had the privilege to learn from an amazing midwife, Miriam Halliday, of ‘Lilac City Doula Training’, to become a certified doula! As a bonus to that class, Tracy Doula, taught, ‘Keeping Your Power Advocacy’ course… as well as ‘Advanced Doula Training’ with Jennifer Bookamer, a birth educator and doula… and doula Mia Shuck...
I love & delight, in learning everything about birth! So, I look forward to continuing education, and diving into birth work, as much as classes and schedules permit.
Hiring me as your doula, I pledge to support you to the best of my abilities… through the highs and lows… in overwhelming joy, and/or nervousness the unknown may bring...
I am comfortable to support, hospital, C-section, home, and birthing center births. I will not try to persuade you to chose any one thing, on your birth plan… but, instead show you the pros and cons of every decision, with my biases checked at the door.
My job is to prepare you in every way possible, before your labor & delivery… so, you feel completely, if not, overly prepared for the big day! I look forward to the chance of walking along side you in this incredible journey… giving you confidence, that I have your back!
